PAST REVIEWS

PATIENCE (3.2 out of 5)
(11-19-2000)

First off, it was really strange to see DD dropped from the opening (I mean his credit, not that crazy falling into an eye stuff). Guess they're trying to slowly wean us off or maybe he will only appear in the credits when he's in the episode.

I think that CC hits us with a double meaning with the title of this episode.  The patience of the bat man (or flying Flukeman as my roommate liked to call him) and also the patience that we should have with the new dynamic of the show.  I think that it will take a couple of episodes for Scully and Doggett to find their rhythm and actually felt that by the end of the episode they started to click.

Now onto comments on this season's first MOTW.  I thought some of the scenes were really creepy, especially the eye in the tree stump in the cemetery scene and the Scully-shoots-holes-in-the-roof scene.  I thought the local cops were really annoying.  What were they so pissed off about?  Who cares if it was a man or a bat or a batman?  Why didn't they just go out and catch the damn thing?  I always liked it better in the past when the locals had some chemistry with Scully or Mulder, instead of the stereotypical "We can handle this ourselves."

I thought Scully looked fabulous in that blue turtleneck.  Like her style this year.  Nice to see Scully finally get a desk.  Apparently, Doggett won't have to wait eight years to get his.  Screams of sexism if you ask me.

It should be interesting to see how the relationship between Scully and Doggett grows over the coming weeks.  I'll grant CC's request for patience.  He's earned it.

I give it a 3.
